Ressala Events
Biography
“Ressala” is the first trial for all its members as a band in 2000. Their challenge was to create a collection of songs (variable music pieces) that proves their capability to interact and cooperate as a band despite of their different music backgrounds and consequently music interests and tastes. These differences resulted in a special genre of songs and music; the vocals artistically perform songs with Egyptian lyrics accompanied by experimental and creative music.
“Ressala” band is the perfect means for its members to communicate their ideas and hopes; in a time characterized by harsh conditions. Each band member presents freely topics they is interested in, this have resulted in a set of songs that describes the spirit of the band and consequently the reality of Egyptian youth. Therefore the name ‘Ressala’ (Message) was the best name for the band.
The beginning was in Cultural centers in Alexandria that gave the band the first chance, followed by a number of concerts in foreign cultural centers in Alexandria. In a later stage the band reached an agreement with the Greek cultural center in Alexandria to host the band regularly; which lasted for 2 years, during which the first change in the band occurred; in terms of band members and therefore instruments. These changes didn’t negatively affect the musical status or the songs but added different flavor and vision to the band

The band performed in a number of important festivals and concerts some of which are:

3. Citadel festival Cairo 2001,2002
4. Roman Amphy theater Alexandria 2002, 2003, 2005
5. First musical festival in the bibliotheca Alexandria oct.2001
6. Gomhoria theater ,Abdeen, Cairo
7. Reyady park in cooperation with the Opera house 2002
8. Sakia cultural center 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007
9. Independent bands festival 2004, alexandria
10. Itigahat charity concert "no for child labor" 17 October 2003 Antoniadis Alexandria
11. Jesuit Alexandria 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

1. Participated for the first time in a World music festival outside Egypt. Awesome Africa music festival (http://www.awesomeafricafestival.co.za ). And will be performing in 2009 again
2. First national hepatitis viral awareness day with renowned Egyptian artist Mohamed Mounir
3. National day against sexual harassment
4. First participation in a Movie, Ressala composed and arranged a song.
5. A special partnership with Egypt National Flight company, Egypt Air.. Ressala is working on composing new music for the company

2008 Achievments:
1. Ressala invented, managed and implemented phase I of Transproject (An extended musical project from across the globe).Ressala Hosted Napalma Band from Brazil (www.napalma.com.br) where they conducted a workshop and created a mixed set of the music of the 2 bands and performed in a number of places in Cairo, Alexandria and Sharm Elsheikh.. This project is sponsored by Nokia and Nile FM
2. Workshop with the famous South African MTV award winner band Freshly ground..
3. Another Movie song that was a hit for Ehna Etabelna Abl kedda movie (we met before movie)
4. A number of concerts and gigs around Egypt
